Helena Mayanja

As the Managing Director & Public Affairs Lead at Hill+Knowlton Strategies Uganda & Rwanda, Helena is an all-round communication professional with over 11 years’ experience in PR & Marketing Communications. She is a seasoned PR practitioner with a wealth of experience in private and public sectors having engaged in different verticals including financial services, entertainment, telecommunications regulation, broadcasting, and oil & gas among other sectors.

Her role is to drive growth, strategic communications and top-level client service across the two East African markets.

Before joining H+K, Helena worked for the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) – the communications regulator where she had overall responsibility for the UCC brand, corporate communications, crisis communications, events management, online presence and CSR programs. Prior to joining UCC, she was the PR Deputy Director at an Advertising Agency where she handled the PR accounts of Pepsi Uganda and Tullow Oil. Before joining the agency world, Helena was the PR & Communications Manager for MultiChoice Uganda/DStv for six years, and Marketing officer for Orient Bank prior to that. Helena has great experience in branding, marketing, internal and external communications, CSR implementation and communications, social media and running corporate reputation programmes.

Helena has a Bachelor of Mass Communication from Makerere University and is a member of the Public Relations Association of Uganda.
