Supporting SPARK Foundation to save water.

Lumos Hill+Knowlton Strategies had the opportunity to support SPARK Foundation, the CSR arm of Heineken Malaysia Berhad, during a recent reforestation effort to preserve the peat swamp forest in Raja Musa in Batang Berjuntai, Selangor, Malaysia.

Committed to continuously sparking action through watershed health protection, the Foundation has been supporting the Global Environment Centre (GEC) in its work with the Selangor State Forestry Department, involving two high-impact initiatives at the Raja Musa Forest Reserve: to reforest one hectare of degraded peatland by planting 600 trees and to construct a 300-meter clay dike, an innovative method to reduce surface and subsurface water seepages that will support water retention and rehabilitation efforts. These measures are expected to help store up to 200 million litres of water annually.
